Jersey Loses Tourney Game To Edwardsville

Hall connected on his 182nd three-pointer of his career. Jersey’s Coach Stote Reeder said he will be recognized at the tourney game Friday night.
Jersey had a difficult time with the Tigers, falling behind 15-4 in the first quarter. In the first half, Jersey head coach received a pair of technicals for protesting a screenplay that resulted in a foul. He was ejected from the game.
Jersey rebounded some in the second half, but the Tigers hung on for the victory.
Matthew Jackson led the Panthers with 14 points and Hall had 11 points and Alex Strebel posted 8 points each. A.J. Robertson had 15 to lead Edwardsville and Jaylon Tuggle added 14 points.
Edwardsville's Coach Battas said he told his kids at halftime, Jersey would rebound and they did. “I was really happy with our composure in the third quarter,” he said. “Jersey has a good team and some older guys on their team who can play; we weren’t surprised they came back.”
Edwardsville has lost several tight games on the season and Coach Battas was glad to go home this time with a big win.
Edwardsville plays Cahokia at 5 p.m. tonight in the tourney and Battas looks for a competitive game. Jersey plays at 6:30 p.m. Highland moved to the championship game against Collinsville at 8 p.m. Friday with a 64-50 win over Cahokia.
