Shrine Circus Entertains Jerseyville
Longtime ringmaster Brian La Palme led the circus in Jerseyville once again.
The Ainad Shrine Circus gave fans a chance to see one of the few remaining circus troupes traveling the country. The Ainad Shrine Circus has contracted for several years to bring this circus to the region.
This time around in Jerseyville and throughout Illinois, it was noticeable there were no elephants, contrary to every place else in the United States.
“We can still have tigers, but there are no elephants allowed in Illinois,” ringmaster La Palme said. “The Illinois governor signed into law that elephants could not perform with circuses in the state and it went in effect in January.”
The circus will also plans stops in Illinois at Belleville, Madison, Highland, Olney, Salem and DuQuoin, for more information or to purchase tickets contact circus chairman Gary Pops at 888-567-1870 or visit www.soilshrinercircus.com.
Proceeds from the circus are for the benefit of the Ainad Shriners General Fund. Contributions do not benefit the Shriners Hospital and are not tax deductible.
