JERSEYVILLE - The Jerseyville Rotary Club hosted their annual Chili Fest from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, at the Jerseyville Knights of Columbus Hall located at 307 North State Street, and it was a smash.

In addition to chili, the club offered beef vegetable soup, hot dogs, drinks and cookies on Tuesday. The chili is made from a recipe that's been used for more than 20 years. The event is the only big fundraiser each year for the Jerseyville Rotary Club.

Jerseyville Rotary Club member Charles Huebner said he has been with the event for 20-25 years and it started even before his time in the club.

“I would love to take credit for the recipe, but it is the late Mary Brightweiser’s recipe. We put everything we have every year into our one fundraiser and it usually very successful.”

Rotary uses the event to fund different programs, from giving dictionaries for children and other school involvement as well as contributions for international projects, also part of Rotary’s mission.

The Jerseyville Rotary had reps from the Mustard Seed Project from Godfrey present at the fundraiser. Teresa Cranmer, founder of the organization, was thankful for being able to be there and raise funds alongside such a giving organization.
