Claire Williams paced the Hawks attack with 14 points, followed by teammate Kaylie Rhoades with 12 points and Hannah Krumwiede with 11 points. Taylor Aguirre and Peyton Kline had 11 and 10 points for Marquette.
Carrollton head coach Blaine Hartwick said he hopes this is an indication of what is to come for his Hawks.
He praised his team for their work rebounding and handling Marquette’s pressure defense.
"To go against the pressure we had in the Jersey Tourney helped us tonight,” he said. “Our defensive rebounding limited the second chances they had.”
Marquette Catholic appeared rusty after not playing since Dec. 16 in the Waterloo Candy Cane Classic Tourney.
Marquette’s coach Leo Green said he was disappointed in his team’s performance and the Hawks dominated his team on the boards.
