Carrollton's St. John 7th Girls Basketball Takes Second In State Championship
West Lincoln-Broadwell defeated St. John’s 51-15 at Central A & M Middle School in Assumption.
Kylie Kinser ended up having a decent game scoring with 13 of the Redbirds 15 points.
Kloe Froebe, the dominant West Lincoln-Broadwell player, had 27 points, connecting on 9 field goals and making 6 of 7 from the line. Elly Martinez added 16 points for West Lincoln-Broadwell.
St. John’s girls coach Robyn Klinger said they had a great fan turnout and proud of the girls coming out in the second half and talked about no quit. “I pulled an experience my senior year playing in a championship game and we had a similar situation. We got shocked from the beginning and things spiraled out of control. That team is young, seventh grade won this last year see it and know what to expect. We haven’t been here in awhile. The girls certainly tried to do what the game plan was.”
Klinger went on to say, "If you would have told me at the beginning of the season that we are going to get second in state, that's a great season. It doesn't feel like it right now because of the score, they blew us out, but our medals are the same size as theirs (West Lincoln-Broadwell)."
