Waverly - Carrollton’s Lady Hawks have started their 2017-2018 basketball season in strong fashion with a ">Monday night win at the Waverly Tournament. The 59-22 Lutheran victory is their fourth, with no losses. The Monday triumph pushes the Hawks into the Waverly Tournament Championship game prior to Thanksgiving Day at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday against Auburn.
Hannah Krumwiede led the Hawks with 15 points on Monday, while Claire Williams scored 14 and Marley Mullink had 10.
Rounding out the Hawks’ scoring were Kaylie Rhoades with 6 points, and Cox, Meuth and Uhles tallied 4 points, while Powell added 2 points. Emily Stoeckel had 7 points to lead Lutheran.
Carrollton led at the quarter marks over Lutheran 17-4, 33-11, 55-21 and 59-22 at the end of the game.
