Jerseyville - A Veterans Day Parade will mark the holiday once again in Jerseyville starting at 9 a.m. today.

The parade will start at Wells Norris in Jersey, go down State Street and left at H & R Block and move to the Jersey County Courthouse. A memorial ceremony will follow after the parade near the entrance to the courthouse.

Veterans of not only past wars and times, but those in present service will march. The Jersey Community High School Marching Band and Boy Scouts will also participate.

There will be several speakers at the memorial ceremony that immediately follows the parade, Elmer Heafner, one of the organizers of the event, said.

Heafner said the Veterans Day Parade and the memorial ceremony are a long tradition in Jerseyville and something the different groups look forward to each year. VFW Post 4528 coordinates this year’s parade.
