Jersey Soccer Season Ends In Bethalto
The lone goal for Jersey came from Andrew Kribs.
Waterloo and Waterloo Gibault will meet for the regional title on Friday. Waterloo clipped Jacksonville 2-1 in the other regional matchup. Both Waterloo teams will now face off on Saturday to determine who moves forward to the Springfield (UIS) Super-Sectional on Oct. 31.
Jersey head coach Scott Burney said it was difficult to see such a good group of nine seniors ended their season and he will miss all the players. He added there are several young players returning and his hope is to improve on the 13-10 season this year with newcomers.
Burney also added that Waterloo Gibault wore his team down in the game and was skilled in several respects on the field, part of playing year round. Many of Jersey’s players perform in different sports, he said, which makes it hard to challenge the teams that put all their emphasis on soccer.
