Jersey Fights A Close Game

The final score was Centralia 56, Jersey 52.

“We didn’t get the stops when we needed them,” Coach Jon Adkins said of Jersey’s efforts. “However, we are so close to getting over the hump.”

Jersey quarterback Drew Sauerwein completed 31 of 46 passes for 447 yards and four touchdowns and no interceptions. Receiver Blake Wittman snared 11 catches for 167 yards and two touchdowns; Kurt Hall collected eight catches for 148 yards and a touchdown.

Sauerwein carried 13 times for 45 yards to pace Jersey. Jack Brandt rushed 10 times for 41 yards.

Tuttle had 7.5 tackles to pace the Panthers; Wittman, Zeke Waltz and Jon Woelfel all had 7 tackles.

Jersey plays on the road at 7 p.m. Friday at Highland. The Panthers return home at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22 against Mascoutah at Snyder Sports Complex.
