ALTON - The Rock the Hops program was a smash Saturday in Downtown Alton.

More than just beer, the Germania BrewHaus, Hops House at Argosy Casino, Elijah P's, Chez Marilyn, Tony's Vogue Room, Bottle and Barrel and Old Bakery Beer Company had regional talent on their respective stages creating music late into the evening.
Polyshades and Biff Biff K'narly and the Reptilians were just two of the local acts aboard for the event, which drew thousands to the area. Most visitors went from establishment to establishment to sample regional microbrews and listen to the music at each venue.
If Saturday's event was any indication of things to come, Rock the Hops appears to be an event that generates significant interest in the area and will likely be a strong program for the future in Alton.
