“We have had lots of good moments and some bad moments this season,” he said. “It seems like a lot of times we play just bad enough to lose. We have been in just about every game. If we take away a few more mistakes, we feel we can play with anybody.”
Perdun said his Jerseyville squad gave up two runs in the first inning against St. Charles on Sunday, then tightened up and came back.
The coach is seeing a resurgence of Legion baseball and he looks for that to continue in the future.
“It has rebounded the last few years,” he said of American Legion baseball.
He said in Jerseyville, they encourage players to participate in multiple sports, so sometimes there is a conflict of practices during the summer.
“Our coaches in Jersey all work well together, so there isn't any problem,” he said of players participating in multiple sports.
