Jerseyville Defeats Quincy in Double-header

Jerseyville won the opener 6-0 and the nightcap 14-6.
“We have started out the last few years in the St. Charles Memorial Day Weekend Wood Bat Tournament and we didn’t hit the ball that well in the tournament, but everyone showed up Sunday and came through. We had several people hit the ball Sunday.”
Kallal praised the effort of pitcher Drew Myers who shut out Quincy in the opener and set the stage for the two wins.
“We have some good kids on our team,” Kallal said. “The majority of our kids just finished their freshman year of high school We have 12 kids who are freshmen on the team.”
Jerseyville returns home for a 1 p.m. double-header Saturday at Alton High School.
