Carrollton Falls to Valmeyer in Sectional

CARROLLTON - Carrollton baseball retained it’s never-say-die spirit in the sectional championship game at Greenville on Saturday against Valmeyer, but lost 7-4 in a highly fought battle.

Carrollton ends the season 26-7. Valmeyer will play the winner of the Lewistown sectional Tuesday in Springfield at Lincoln Land Community College.

Kolten Bottom had two hits for the Hawks, Tyler Barnett had two hits. Bottom’s hit was a triple.

Valmeyer’s freshman pitcher Phillip Reinhardt was nearly un-hittable in the game as he has been all season. He entered the game with a 7-1 record and 0.79 ERA, one of the best marks in the state in Class 1A baseball.

The Hawks return several players next year and head coach Jeff Krumwiede said he hopes to build on this year’s regional championship next season.
