JERSEYVILLE - Highland and Jersey battled in a baseball contest on Wednesday with the Bulldogs prevailing 5-1 over the Panthers.

The Panthers had a good day at the plate with Collin Carey knocking out two hits. Ryan Johnes, Zach Benware, Mitch Stockstill and Logan Simpson also added hits. Stockstill scored the lone Panther run and Blake Wittman had the RBI for the Panthers.

The Bulldogs improve to 17-8-1 overall and 4-5 in the MVC, Jersey falls to 11-14 overall and 0-7 in the MVC.

Jersey is scheduled to travel to Carlinville for a 4:30 p.m. baseball game today, then to Edwardsville at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Jersey honored its senior team members at the conclusion of the game.
