ALTON - The rain didn’t damper spirits on the Alton riverfront Tuesday night for the annual fireworks celebration.
The fireworks portion started a little past 9:30 p.m., but provided several parts of the show that captivated the crowd. The fireworks display lasted a little more than 30 minutes.
The fireworks whizzed overhead lighting up the sky with vivid colors and fiery sparks. Businesses along the riverfront were exceptionally busy. The night’s activities closed with Mac’s in Downtown Alton, hosting both Molly Hatchet and Badfinger. Blue City Grill, Mac’s and Old Bakery Beer were both exceptionally crowded through the night.
