HARDIN - The Calhoun-Carrollton boys varsity basketball game that normally would take place after the opening junior varsity game on Friday night was rescheduled after one of the officials collapsed with an apparent heart attack near the end of the junior varsity game.

Volunteers contacted 911 immediately and informed local authorities of the incident. Volunteers then performed CPR with assistance of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) maintained at the school and were successful in being able to revive him within minutes of his collapse. The referee regained consciousness and after a nearly one hour delay with several ambulances on site, he was eventually transported by a Survival Flight Inc. helicopter to a St. Louis hospital.

The varsity game is now reset for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14. Tip-off is 7 p.m. and admission is free.
